High Five!

I hope everyone is recovering nicely from the holidays. I will be after this weekend. We have nothing planned for this weekend and it will be great! There were also some awesome highlights from this week as well!

1. I got to see a bunch of family and friends and eat a lot of delicious food. It's quite possible that I ate my weight in prime rib and I still have more prime rib to come for New Year's Eve!

2. I got to give everyone their gifts and see how excited they were to get them. I love buying gifts for people, but I hate waiting to give them to them.

3. I finally got a couple days off from work. I didn't have to work Christmas Eve day or Christmas day and it was fabulous. I was so glad to have Christmas Eve day off so I could get my life in order a little bit. Shit was starting to get a little out of control. My bosses took the entire week off this week so it was kind of like a mini-vacation at work too. It was much needed.

4. The only plans we have for the weekend are to go to a hockey game tonight. We have free tickets and their special tonight is $2 beers and pretzels. So we'll be having that for dinner tonight.

5. I got so many awesome gifts from my friends and family and I am so thankful for all of them. My mom got me a ton of clothes, Eric got me a wine rack and new wine glass set, Eric's parents got us new coffee tables and Eric's mom got me a new Coach purse. If you guys know me, you know I'm a Coach junkie. Remember the Coach sunglasses I got for my birthday? Well she definitely knows what I like. It's like the one below, but tan with dark purple leather. It's adorable.

I hope you guys have some things to high five about this week as well! Have a great weekend!

Blue Christmas

I'm glad that for the next week, I have absolutely nothing planned. I'm excited to be able to stay home in our apartment to relax for a little bit. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the past week eating my weight in food and goodies and spending time with family and friends, but I'm ready to be done.

However, I'm not ready for the Christmas season to be over. As I headed to work this morning, I came to the realization that I have the post-Christmas blues. I'll be sad to take my tree down, sad to put our stocking away, sad that our usual "Husker Fans Live Here" sign will replace our Christmas wreath on our door. No more Christmas music or movies, no more giving gifts to anyone. I'm just a little bummed. There's not really any holidays to look forward to. No days off from work. No parties. Just back to normal life.

I am going to try to drag the holiday out a little longer, I still have a few more holiday posts up my sleeve. So definitely keep an eye out for those, especially a recap of the craziness!

What do you guys do to beat the post-holiday blues?

Deck The Halls

I got in a crafty mood last night. (Thanks for nothing Pinterest.) I came across a cute little craft that I had everything on hand to make. Since Eric and I moved in together and this is our first Christmas in our apartment, I decided this was the perfect ornament to make.

I just made a very small, simple batch of salt dough.
  • 1/2 Cup Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Water
Mix it together and form it into a ball. Cover cutting mat and rolling pin with flour and roll it out about 1/4" thick. Use cookie cutters, etc. to cut your ornament to whatever shape you want. I just used a drinking glass. I then took my key and pressed it into the dough. I also did one with Morgan's paw print. Then, use a straw to create a hole at the top. Next, bake them for 2 hours at 200 degrees. Flip them halfway through. Let them cool completely.

After that you can decorate them however you would like. Paint them. Glitter them. Write on them. Whatever you want! Then string a ribbon through the hole and display them on your tree! The possibilities with these really are endless!

High Fiver

As long as this week was drawn out, it was pretty fun. I have a few moments to high five about.

1. We did Secret Santa at work a few days this week. My Santa pretty much rocked it up until today. But, there is always a reason for gift receipts. It was a fun gift but I'm 99% sure I won't use it. He got me a Hostess Cupcake maker. 1. I make a LOT of cupcakes I don't need a machine. 2. We don't have ANY room for this contraption. But it's the thought that counts.

2. I've done nothing but eat this week. Seriously. And it's not going to stop anytime soon. I love the holidays and all the food. So what if I donated $40 to my gym this month.

3. We're on our way to my brother and sister in law's house for our family Christmas. Literally. We're in the car right now. Our family Christmas is always a good time. We eat, we drink (a lot), we play games, open presents and have a blast.

4. I did a fun craft this week that I'll post about next week. It's so simple and fun! It would be a great craft for those of you with kids.

5. We have so many Christmases to go to the next few days. We'll be busy but it will be a blast. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the family members.

I hope you all had a great week. I know I did, but I'm glad it's over. Enjoy your weekend!

Slacker.

I realize I have been slacking on the blog postings lately, but I promise, there are some good ones to come! We've been doing Secret Santa at work, and my secret Santa is hilarious. I also squeezed in some time to do a little crafting last night as well. So be sure to look for posts about those coming up!

In the meantime, enjoy this Christmas joy I have to pass along.

So Many Corgis!!!

When I wake up in the morning and the alarm gives out a warning I don't think I'll ever make it on time.

Disclaimer: Start playing this first before you read the rest of this post. It will really add to the experience.

So I came across quite possibly the funniest thing I have seen on the internet in awhile.  In an article posted by Cosmopolitan.com they detailed what it would be like if Kelly Kapowski had an Instagram. Seriously hilarious. Check it out here!

#SoManyHashtags

That phone. I die.
This is by far my favorite. An ode to the time Jesse Spano got all hopped up on pills. I loved Saved By The Bell so much. I might have to write a whole post about it some day. And let's be real... Zack Morris. SWOON!

And let's be real Mark-Paul Gosselaar is still a mega hottie. If you guys have never seen the series Weeds, he makes an appearance in a pretty steamy sex scene. Season 6 Episode 8. Not that I know that or anything.

Did you guys love Saved By The Bell as much as I did? Team Zack or Team Slater?

Laughter is the Best Medicine

I don't know if I've told you guys this before, but my major in college was Mass Communication. You know, TV, radio, newspaper, etc. etc. etc.

I may not be in that field now, but I love it. I love to listen to the radio, I love the behind the scenes of all of it, I love the pop culture and the news. I might have had the best major ever. I got to have my own radio show, I got to be on TV, write for a newspaper, shoot videos, all the cool stuff. I rarely had tests. Mostly just projects where I had to shoot a story, or record a newscast or do other fun stuff like that. My homework consisted of writing movie reviews, book reviews, recording part of my radio show and watching TV. It all consisted of doing stuff that I really enjoy. (The only not so fun part was lugging all of the video equipment to the gym to film basketball games. But I got paid $50 bucks a game, so I couldn't complain too much.)

When you're a Mass Comm. major, you sometimes write very interesting topics for your papers for class. I once wrote a paper about Christ Brown beating up Rihanna. I also wrote my senior theory paper on GLEE and the stereotypes that the show portrays in the media.

One of my favorite things to write in my classes though was movie reviews. I always thought I might end up as a movie critic. (I still might, who knows.)

Well last night, I was cleaning out a bunch of stuff from my computer, stuff I didn't need anymore, and I
came across a movie review I wrote about the movie Jarhead starring Jake Gyllenhaal. I had this beautifully thought out review that, let's be real, should be published somewhere. I got to the end where I actually rated the movie and here's what I wrote:

"3 out of 5 for lack of excitement and climax. 5 out of 5 for showing Jake Gyllenhaal's butt."

I don't remember writing that, but I'm glad I did because I got quite the laugh out of it. I tried to tell Eric about it, but I couldn't because every time I tried to say it I started laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my cheeks. It took me a solid 5 minutes to stop laughing and just get it out.

There's no doubt about it, I love to laugh and laughter truly is the best medicine.
Do you guys ever say something that makes you just crack up, even when no one else is laughing?

High Fivin'

Happy Friday!!!
I don't have much to say today, I'm squeezing a couple minutes out of my morning to write this real quick so let's just get down to it!

1. Eric and I celebrated our anniversary last night. We went out to a nice dinner and ate our weight in food. It was soooo good.

2. Eric surprised me by having flowers delivered to me at work. He also got me a pair of really nice earrings that I was not expecting.
No, that's not my birthstone. I just really like yellow.
Source
3. I've been super busy at work so this week went by really fast. I'm very grateful when I'm busy at work. It means more $$$!

4. Morgan went to the groomer this week and came back with ridiculous hair bows and a Santa bandanna. She hated every second of it. But I got a good laugh out of it.

"Really, Mom? It's not the time for photos."

5. We're heading to Sioux Falls this weekend. One of our friends graduated from college (finally) and we're heading up there to celebrate with her and some other friends. It should be a good time.

I hope you all had a fabulous week and a great weekend before the craziness that is the holidays!

I Have Been Blessed

There is something you may not know about me. I love love. I am a romantic. I love Valentine's Day. I love seeing people in love and I love being in love. I love being in love with Eric.

Today marks one year from the day when he asked me to be his girlfriend. It's been a crazy year full of love and nothing but love. Not once have I ever thought to myself that Eric wasn't the right person for me. Things just work for us. Our relationship just clicks. We have a lot of the same goals in life and want the same things. We have the same sense of humor, we laugh at the stupidest things together. We enjoy doing the same things. (The only things we disagree on is who has to pick up the dog poop and what movies we watch. Sorry I have better taste in movies.) Most importantly, we enjoy just spending time together. Every night while we're at home and he's making me die of laughter, I know that I will always be in the honeymoon stage with him.

So here is to many more years with this clown. I wouldn't trade our time together for anything.

Tipsy Tuesday

Tuesdays used to be my absolute favorite day of the week. Back when I was in college we would always look forward to going to our favorite bar on Tuesdays. It always made the week go so fast. We would spend all of Monday looking forward to Tipsy Tuesday and planning our evening. Tuesday would roll around and we would just be pumped and before you knew it... it was already Hump Day!

The end of my junior year/beginning of my senior year is when Tipsy Tuesday really took off. Our favorite bar, The Chesterfield, had karaoke and two-fers on Tuesdays. For a measly ten dollars, I could buy three $3.00 drinks and get three for free! And still have a buck leftover to tip the bartender (because let's be real, college kids don't tip well). It was especially awesome when someone's birthday fell on a Tuesday. Now when my birthday is on a Tuesday it's boring.

One of the most memorable parts of Tipsy Tuesdays was always the morning after. My best friend Kylie and I would always get up to eat breakfast in the cafeteria before our 8 am class Wednesday morning (Yes we would still go out even though we had an 8 am class the next day) and rehash all the details of the night before. Then we would trudge off to our dreaded typography class where two other girls who also went out the night before (there was only for of us in the class) would fill us in with their own stories of Tipsy Tuesday. Needless to say, our teacher didn't like the four of us very much.

I wish I could look forward to Tuesdays as much as I did in college. But now all I have to look forward to is the end of the day. My Tuesday is filled with meetings meetings and more meetings.

Sometimes I wish I could still go out and have fun like I did in college, but let's be real, it takes me 2+ days to get over a hangover now. I can't just get up and go to breakfast and an 8 am class like I used to.

Is there anything you guys really miss from your college days? This is about the only thing I truly miss (other than my friends and being able to take a nap at 10am).

Also, sorry not sorry for the quality of the pictures, we were trashed when they were taken anyway.

High to the Five

Happy Friday everyone! Let's pass some High Fives all around!

1. This week went surprisingly fast. I thought for sure that it would drag on since we had a short week last week, but I was pleasantly surprised. I think it's because I was busy with the whole volleyball thing.

2. I have 90% of my Christmas shopping done. I just have to making a trip the liquor store, smoke shack to finish up gifts for my dad and brother. Seriously, who else does Christmas shopping at the liquor store?

3. We don't have much going on this weekend other than a quick trip home to get my oil changed. I'm pretty excited to be able to relax before the holidays get into full swing.

4. I've come to the realization that I'm become a shop-aholic. I've done so much online shopping lately, but it's because I'm trying to update my wardrobe so I can look a little more professional. I just need to get rid of a bunch of stuff now like Kate over at The Florkens did.

5. I'm patiently waiting for 2:30 to roll around because today we're celebrating the associate of the month and we get ice cream cake. My job is better than yours. Boom.

I'll leave you all with this photo of Morgi, all tucked in and cuddled up watching the Walking Dead. Have a great weekend!

Bump. Set. Spike.

The NAIA Volleyball National Championship tournament is in town this week! Not only do I love to watch volleyball, but the tournament brings a lot of business into town. Our hotel is packed, which packed hotel = $$$ for Kate.

Having a lot of business isn't the only thing that is exciting. We are a corporate sponsor for the tournament so we get assigned a team to us and we get to hang out with them and be "honorary coaches" and sit on the bench during the game. It's a lot of fun. The team we have this year is the same team we had last year. We were lucky enough to have them qualify for the tournament two years in a row. These girls and coaches are awesome. They're from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. It is a faith based college and you can tell. These girls are so kind-hearted and you can tell they are going to do awesome things. We had lunch with them on Monday and got to know them a little bit. They brought us gifts too! They brought us sweatshirts and t-shirts to wear to the game and some California wine!

I really hope they succeed and make it far in the tournament. I've loved watching them play and seeing them roaming around the hotel.  We even got to see a couple of them play around in the snow for the first time!
Getting a little pep talk during the game.
Go Warriors! Kick some butt!

Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

Our Christmas cards will be going out this week. And let me tell you, I had a heck of a time with them. Originally I designed a cute one myself that I wanted to send out. I tried 5 different websites and could not get them to print on any of them. I was a little ticked, but I sucked it up and just picked one off of a website and got some printed. I'll share those with you next week once they get in the mail and delivered so I don't spoil it for anyone. I am going to share with you the one that I designed though. I figure I can just email it out to people so it wasn't a total loss.

Merry Corgi-mas Everybody!
What do you guys do? Do you make your own or go the pre-made route? Or do you have someone else design them for you?

O Tannenbaum

I have a love/love relationship with glitter. And Christmas decorations. When the two are combined, I am on overload. Our Christmas tree is nothing but glitter. From the ornaments, to the tinsel and even the tree skirt and star on top. Glitter everywhere. And I love every second of it. Eric, not so much.

I came home late from work last night (I had a volleyball banquet to go to, I’ve never felt so short in my life. I’ll write more about this later in the week.) and Eric told me he had to get glitter out of Morgan’s eye. He said, “She was kind of blinking a lot so I looked in her eye and there was a bunch of glitter in it. It’s your fault.” I’m pretty sure Morgan has been rolling around on the tree skirt while we’re gone during the day. I’m pretty sure girl leaves a trail of glitter everywhere she goes.

So without further ado, here is our tree in all it's glittering glory.

I went for a black and white theme this year.

Morgan was recently abducted by aliens.

Had to throw in a little Husker love.

The stockings were hung by Memorial Stadium with care.
That's how the story goes, right?!
Have you guys put up all your decorations yet? I wish I had more, but I just don't have room to store them when they're not out. I think we're quickly outgrowing our apartment :(

Monday, Monday

I'm pretty sure everyone should just get Cyber Monday off in addition to the rest of Thanksgiving weekend. All anyone did at work today was shop anyway.

I think these are going to be added to my New Year's Eve Wardrobe
Source
There are some pretty good deals out there, did you guys score anything?

Thanks!

Instead of the usual So What Wednesday I'm going to take a little time to let you know some things I'm thankful for. I know everyone is thankful for their family, friends, etc. but this is a list of not so typical things I'm thankful for.

1. I'm thankful that I work in a hotel. Hotels have a lot of furniture. Do you know what hotels do with their old furniture when they get new stuff? They sell it. To their employees. For cheap. And it's some pretty cool stuff. This chair will soon be gracing our apartment with it's presence. I've always wanted a cool accent chair, and now I have one. All because I work in a hotel.

2. I'm thankful for Morgi the Corgi. My life would be waaaay more boring if she weren't around to make me laugh. Right now, it's very static-y in our apartment, and I'm pretty sure it's Morgan's fault because she just scoots around on the carpet all day. Every time one of us touches her we get shocked. It makes for some good laughs.

Yeah. This happened

3. I'm thankful that I live in an apartment. When shit breaks, you don't have to pay for it to get fixed. A friendly handyman comes and fixes it. Especially when your kitchen pipes are overflowing everywhere two days before you host Thanksgiving.

4. I'm thankful that I have an easy going personality. If I didn't, the above item would stress me the eff out.

5. I'm thankful that my boyfriend has an easy going personality as well and when said pipes are leaking and overflowing and making a damn mess while we're trying to make dinner he goes along with me when I say, "Fuck it, we're ordering pizza."

What are you guys thankful for? Any non-traditional items? Because let's be real.... everyone should be thankful for their friends and family. It's the little things that get overlooked.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Last night Eric and I recreated our first date. Last year, I somehow talked him in to going to the holiday lighted parade as our first date. I don't know why he ever agreed to it, but he did! He was annoyed (secretly excited) that I was making him go again this year.

The hotel that I work at has an awesome restaurant so we took advantage of my employee discount and had dinner there before the parade and ordered a $50 (!) appetizer sampler with steak tips, coconut shrimp, calamari, onion rings and lobster nachos (!). (Thank God for employee discounts!) Every time we eat there, we end up ordering the same thing because we like to have a few bites of every thing.

After dinner, we bundled up and took on downtown Sioux City.

The lighted parade leaves a lot to be desired, the best float by far was by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which makes sense, they're electrical workers. I'm sure they can string together Christmas lights like it's no big thing.

And then there is of course, the finale of the parade, the big man himself.
Santa!!! I know him!!
It seems like a ridiculous tradition, but it is just that, a tradition. One that I am sure we will continue year after year. What are some of your guys' favorite holiday traditions?

I Came In Like A Wrecking Ball............

Disclaimer: The title of today’s post really has nothing to do with the post itself, it’s just been stuck in my head for about three damn days.

Today I’ll be touching on a highly debated topic: Leggings worn as pants.

Now let me tell you this up front, I am all for leggings. They are quite possibly the most comfortable article of clothing. I love wearing them around the house on the weekends, wearing them to bed, and maaaybe the occasional trip to Wal-Mart. I very rarely actually wear them as pants outside of my home.

I’ll tell you one thing I don’t do… I definitely don’t wear them as pants to work. Sure, I wear them under dresses in the fall and winter and I wear them under longer tunic type shirts, but I never wear them as a substitute for pants.

If you’re wearing them (especially to work where we dress up nicely, ex: my boss wears a suit and tie every day) your shirt/top/dress should at least cover your butt. I don’t want to see your ass in your tight, clingy leggings. (One of my coworkers apparently did not get this memo.) In my opinion, it looks terrible. It looks like you are wearing workout pants with a nice sweater. It also makes you look like you are 15 and going shopping with your friends. Just throw in some UGG boots and you’ll be set.

So what should you all take away from this rant? Leggings are NOT a substitute for actual pants. Especially in your formal work environment.

Now excuse me while I step down from my soapbox.

TGIFF

Thank God it's 'effin Friday!

Jeesh. I don't really have anything to high-five about this week. I was sick and it just plain sucked. So today will be a list (my favorite) of things you might not know about me.

1. My real name is Katelyn. No one ever calls me that, except for my mom when I'm in trouble and one friend from college that I think does it just to annoy me.

2. I used to decorate cakes for a living. I loved it and miss doing it, but my job now rocks. Sometimes I decorate cakes and cupcakes a little bit for friends and family still.
My wedding cake will look like this some day.

My favorite cake I ever decorated!

3. I love dogs more than any person should. At one point in my life I lived with 3 guys and 10 dogs. I guess you could call me a crazy dog lady. I can't go to the Humane Society or the pound or anything because I will take at least one dog home.

4. I coach High School Girls Tennis for a Catholic school here in town. I love it more than anything. I wish it could be my full time job, but sadly, it barely pays. (And a little shout out... their football team just won the state championship last night! PRIDE!)

My Crazy, Awesome, Fun-Loving Tennis Team! (and yes, that is Morgan in the back row.)
5. I have naturally curly hair. No one knows this because I straighten it every single day. I just don't look good with curly hair, and it's not the nice naturally curly hair that you see in pictures all the time. It's nuts.

I hope your week was better than mine. I'm really looking forward to the next week/thanksgiving/next weekend. I'm ready for a couple days off and time to recover. Have a great weekend!!

So What?!

You guys.... could this week go any slower? I'm so ready for a 4 day weekend next weekend. I know it's Wednesday and the week is half over already, but come on... I need a solid couple of days to rest.

So what if I haven't gone to the gym this week. I'm sick and can't breath when I'm just sitting, let alone when I'm actually trying to work out.

So what if I took a two hour nap on the couch at 6:30 last night and then couldn't fall back asleep when I actually went to bed. That two hour nap was glorious. This sickness is seriously kicking my ass.

So what if I had a fun size Twix candy bar for breakfast the day after a dentist appointment. Twix are my favorite and it was delicious and the cavities are already there so.....

So what if I didn't get anything done at work yesterday. I had to leave early for my dentist appointment and I spent the whole day stressing out about it anyway.

So what if I don't feel like doing anything today at work either. I'm still very much needing a day off, but that won't come until next week. So I guess I'll just do all my easy work today...

I hope your guys' week is going better than mine is. I'm ready to kick this sickness to the curb and get back into a good routine. Hopefully I'm feeling better in the next couple of days and can actually get some shit done. Also, stay tuned for a preview of our Christmas card photos :)

History in the Making

One year ago today I went on a first date. Little did I know that my life would be different from that moment on....

Who would have thought in that year that we would be living together and talking about plans for the future. I don’t know why our relationship works, it just does. It just clicks. I couldn’t be happier about meeting him, falling in love and planning our life together.
A few pictures to document our year. From sporting events, to concerts, to road trips and yes, once upon a time I even drug Eric to go see Pauly Shore. (Weezing the juice.)
All in all, the whole year has been pretty damn great!

I Want Crazy

This weekend we went to yet another concert. Surprise Surprise.

I also got my ears pierced..... from the screams of teenage girls at said concert.

If you haven't guessed by now, we went to see Hunter Hayes this weekend. And we had meet and greet passes! I was kind of excited for the concert, but not as excited as all those girls! The audience was easily 95% female. The few men that were in attendance were dads and boyfriends who got drug along to the show. Oh, and one very creepy guy that sat in front of us by himself and knew every word to every song and danced along.
Eric was soooo excited :)
P.s. Check out that beard :)
The concert itself was pretty good. I only knew about 5 of his songs but it was fun to hear and dance along to the rest. And let me tell you, Hunter Hayes is quite the musician. He played at least ten different instruments during the show.
We had pretty good seats too!
There were confetti cannons at the end as well, because why wouldn't Hunter Hayes have a confetti cannon with a couple thousand screaming girls.
Right in the thick of all the confetti.
It was by far the loudest concert I've ever been to. I still have a headache/earache! But the meet and greet was definitely worth it. He is such a nice fella. He takes time to talk to everyone that he meets. We actually got to have a conversation with him. He signed our ticket for us and snapped a photo and we were on our way!
He's a very tiny man.
I wouldn't say that I need to go see him again anytime soon, but I'm excited to see how his career will develop. I'm sure he'll be around awhile. So, unless you have a pre-teen/teenage daughter at home, I would put off seeing Hunter Hayes for awhile.

Let's Get a Little Mud on the Tires

Guys, I am dragging butt today. Why you might ask? Well, I spent my evening with Brad Paisley!
As I’m sure you know by now, I’m a concert junkie. I love them, whether I’m in the front row having a blast or in the last row just taking in the show. I can’t get enough of them!

My all time favorite song.
Eric stumbled on 3 tickets to the show on one of those Facebook swap sites where you can buy and sell stuff and he asked me one night, “Do you think you can find someone to go see Brad Paisley with us? I’m going to buy tickets.” So I called up my friend/coworker and asked her if she wanted to go.
So Thursday finally rolls around and we all pack up after work and head off to see my man Brad.
There is one thing about Brad Paisley concerts. The special effects, video and light shows are AWESOME. It’s like watching a movie behind him the whole time. When he sings Remind Me, his duet with Carrie Underwood, he has a hologram of Carrie that looks soooo real. At one point, there was even a Brad Paisley mascot running around on stage. You guys, he even has his own app that goes along with his concert!

This was us dancing to a Brad Paisley
 song at his wedding.
And yes, that is a camouflage vest and tie.
Now I want to tell you a little bit about my history with Brad Paisley. This is the 3rd time I’ve seen him now, mainly because he is my ALL TIME favorite. His songs bring back so many memories for me. Mud on the Tires in particular. In high school, my best friend drove this shitty old Blazer. We used to just drive around all night and find new places to get a little Mud on the Tires. We would listen to the song on repeat all night long and just belt it out the whole time. It’s one of those songs that you know will always hold a special place in your heart and will always trigger memories like that.

Flashback Friday! This is actually one of the better pictures
of us through the years. No braces, no bad haircuts, no
weird photo bombs, etc.

Back to the concert after a short trip down memory lane… halfway through the opener, Danielle Bradbery, I noticed that there was a smaller stage about 5 feet from us. Brad made his way over there during one song and sang a few songs and I was right there! I was so close to him!

My man, Brad! That's how close I was to him!

His ending of the show was so cool, but I don’t want to spoil it for any of you who might be seeing him in the future. It was just amazing what all his special effects can do! So, all in all, I would definitely recommend going to see Brad Paisley. He puts on quite the show.

Even though I’m exhausted today, it was definitely worth it!

Stay tuned, I’m going to see Hunter Hayes tomorrow, plus I get to meet him!

Also, don’t forget to vote in my poll about what we should wear for our Christmas card photos!
So far it’s a tie between Santa Hats and a cute outfit that I pick out J

I'm a Barbie Girl

Happy Hump Day everyone! It's that time of week again, time for a So What Wednesday!

1. I'm wearing one of my favorite dresses today. It's navy blue and has fuchsia birds on it. Because, this work stuff is for the birds.

2. One of my (male) coworkers told me today that my shoes looked like Barbie shoes. So what, they're cute, even if you think they look like Barbie shoes.

3. I may or may not be going to 2 concerts this week. (I am). Brad Paisley tomorrow and Hunter Hayes (with a meet and greet!) on Saturday.

4. Keep an eye out for the first ever Eric, Kate and Morgan Christmas card. The Siouxland Humane Society is doing a fundraiser where you can go and get your pictures professionally taken with a winter backdrop and use them however you want. So if you'd love to receive one of the most amazing "family's" Christmas cards, let me know your address! The verdict is still out on what we're going to wear for these photos. Take my little poll over there --------------------------> and you might just have an input in what we wear!

5. Did I mention I get to meet Hunter Hayes this weekend? We have to miss out on the sold out University of South Dakota vs. South Dakota State football game, but let's be real, we can go to the game next year!

I hope you're all having a fabulous week so far! Keep it up! We're almost to the weekend!

Lemonade Mouth

There is no flavor I love more than Lemon. Lemonheads, lemon cake, vodka lemonades. So when I stumbled on this recipe on Pinterest, I knew I had to try it. Most of the time on Pinterest, I pin a bunch of stuff and never do anything about. (Hello wine bottle nightlight.) We've all been there. Occasionally I try some recipes, and this one seemed pretty simple. Hell, it uses box cake mix. So I headed off to the store. Now let me just forewarn you, these cookies are kind of time consuming, but I skipped the gym today, so I had plenty of time.

I just followed the recipe as stated, except I substituted 1/2 a stick of butter in each cake mix instead of the oil. Because, butter. (Nod to Paula Dean.)

Also, this recipe gave me an excuse to use this bad boy! Thanks Momma Deb.

Obviously it did an awesome job, it's a Kitchen Aid, it's not going to suck! Also, notice that it matches my Keurig :)

After it's all mixed up, you take a small scoop of each flavor, roll them into a ball, roll in powdered sugar, and smush them down a bit.

Bake them for about ten minutes. Then you make the glaze as the recipe says. I actually used lemon juice instead of milk so it was a little more lemon-y. You know I love lemons :)

Next step: Enjoy! They get this crackle-y texture on top and the glaze really tops it off. My coworkers are definitely going to love me at work today! Morgan even got in on the action a little bit. She mainly just waits for me to drop stuff on the floor. :)

I hope you all have a great day! If you have time, might I suggest making some Strawberry Lemonade cookies!
